Obituary of Liza Blinder

Liza Blinder, age 99, of Las Vegas, passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2017. Liza was born July 4, 1918 in Tulchin, in the Ukraine to the late Simon Blinder and the late Ethel (Cazachiner) Blinder, just eight months after the Revolution. In her early years, she lived through the Civil War. She began teaching at age 18, after graduating a teacher's college. She taught German and Russian language and literature. In 1941 as a result of WWII, her family was moved into the Ghetto. Her younger brother died in a cremation chamber, and it is thought that the rest of the family survived the war because her father was a dentist, a sorely needed profession in the Ghetto. After the war she continued teaching and graduated university with master degree in philology. Married Philip Nemoy (Veteran of World War 2 and Battle of Stalingrad) in 1958. In 1960 Liza Blinder gave birth to her son Simon Nemoy. Her husband passed away in 1967 as a result of the wounds he received during the War. Liza continued teaching until 1985, and moved to the United States in 1990 to be with her son's family. She is survived by her son Simon Nemoy, her daughter-in-law Ella Nemoy, and her grandchildren Diana and Phillip Nemoy. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, December 4, 2017 at Bunkers Memory Gardens Cemetery, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road, Las Vegas, NV.
