Obituary of Maria Consolacion Asuncion Redoble

Maria Consolación Agonoy Asuncion Redoble passed away at her home in Las Vegas, Nevada on November 22, 2020 at the age of 91. She has been reunited in heaven with the loved ones that passed before her including her daughter Marlyn and husband Crescencio. Born in San Nicolas, Illocos Norte, Philippines, Maria was instantly known for her magnetic personality and love of life. She became the first college graduate of her family with a Bachelor's degree from University of The Philippines in 1949 and shortly after began her career as a teacher and mother. In 1970, she embarked on her next great adventure by moving to the United States with her husband and four children. They eventually settled in Chicago and later moved to the suburb of Buffalo Grove. It was here that she became a physical education teacher for special needs students. Her servitude did not go unrecognized as she was honored with the 1976 (bicentennial year) outstanding citizen award for her work in growing the Special Olympics Illinois program. This would be considered her second greatest achievement, her first being her loving family. Maria considered them as her "greatest contribution to society" and the "secret joy of [her] soul". She cherished sharing her joys with them; which included writing, swimming, singing, dancing, cooking and laughing. Maria is survived by her three living children: Vicky, Caesar and El; and four grandchildren: Marissa, Max, Monica and Sammy. We'll love you until the end of time. Rest in Peace Maria/Mom/Lola
