Obituary of Josefina DyReyes Dimanlig
Josie Dimanlig, "Grammy", age 80, passed away peacefully on December 5th, 2017.
She was the mother of four children, four grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. She was widowed by Horacio Little Dimanlig, Sr. after 45 memorable years. Grammy defined a true matriarch. She is remembered as a nurturing, affectionate, protective, generous and loving mother to all that knew her.
Josie was born September 19, 1937 in Masbate, Philippines. She attended the University of Santo Tomas where she obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. She married Horacio Dimanlig on February 13, 1958. They later moved to San Francisco, CA where they raised their family together. She worked at McCutchen, Doyle, Brown & Enerson, LLP for many years where she was known as "Mama Jo". She made many close friends who she also considered family during her time there.
Josie was a master mahjong player. She enjoyed shopping, dressing up, experimenting with make-up and doing her nails. In her retirement years, she spent time with her children and their families, and traveled back and forth between California, Georgia and Nevada to be with them. In her later life, she developed cancer. She did not let the cancer defeat her and lived a few years in remission. She was proud and grateful to celebrate her accomplishment of beating cancer and so were those who loved her. The extra time she had was a gift to everyone.
Her family was the most significant part of her life. Grammy and Grandpa were always welcoming of family near and far. Many loving memories of mahjong, friends, family, grandchildren and holidays occurred in their home. Josie had the ability to make everyone she spoke with feel important. She was generous, kind and full of love. She is missed and loved by so many, and her spirit is unforgettable.
She is survived by her siblings: Nilda Constantino, Dr. Estrella Bautista, Dr. Concepcion DyReyes Yao, Vicente DyReyes, Alexander DyReyes; her children: Noel Michael, Ricky, Barbara (daughter-in-law), Carla, Willie (son-in-law), Horace, Nikki (daughter-in-law); her grandchildren: Emillie, Neomar (grandson-in-law), Kathryn, Cons (grandson-in-law) J.R, Sherlyn (future granddaughter-in-law) and Kevin; her great grandchildren: Malaya, Niyarra, Zaven, Nemari, Xander and Daejelle; She now joins her parents, husband, siblings, friends, loved ones, and God the heavenly father.
