I had the privilege and honor of being with Harold for over 26, and married to him for almost 10 of them. I struggle to condense into a short paragraph what he was about. A man of few words, a sharp funny wit, a heart so willing to give if he had it to give. A true giver, one who gave from the heart and with no expectations of receiving. A man who wanted more than anything, respect, and found in receiving the respect he deserved he won the hearts of those he worked with. Harold put Honor first, Loyalty second and along the way gathered friendships who became family. He wasn't a touchy feely kind of person at the beginning, but my family wore him down and he learned to give hearty hugs and not the "you're in my space" kind of hugs. He taught me to approach a challenge with logic not emotion, and I can proudly say I won a few discussions using that tactic on him. I will forever miss him him calling "Honey Bunny!" when he wanted my attention. I will miss his soft presence, his gentle smile and his great advice. I will miss the 3 cards he hid around the house for every holiday, birthday and just because day. I hope I made him proud to be called my husband and I will forever be blessed for calling him mine.

My name is Jeff Wilkinson;
I first met Harold in 1997 in Baikonur at the Fili Hotel while he was working a Motorola Campaign and I was on a Hughes Campaign. We later ended up working a Motorola Campaign together.
One of the funniest times I had with Harold was in Baikonur a small town about 45 minutes from where we were staying. That day was very cold very cold, we were walking along some aisles in a flea market type area, as I was following Harold I slipped on a piece of ice smack down on my back, WHOP, I could see Harold stop turn around look at me and say,
you done playing around? I mean if you want to learn how to ice skate….haha…
so I got up, brush myself off and he said.
you might as well leave the dirt on, you're just going to hit the deck again anyway…Cant take you know where…haha.
.But as a man, Harold was a determined individual who wanted not only to be very good at what he does, but he was hard on himself also. I respected his work ethic, and how he helped me understand being good at what you do is a personal commitment. Harold loved Baikonur and the people, and he was very well respected by Russian personnel.
My father taught me a man that doesn’t work, don’t eat, Harold taught me a man causing problems in Baikonur gets put on the next plane outer here haha…
I’m going to miss Harp..but I will never forget him, What will stay with me is “give and don’t expect to receive, live on, help who you can and enjoy doing it”…That's Harp… see ya later Buddy….
