Jack Parker, Jr.

Obituary of Jack Norman Parker, Jr.

Jack Norman Parker, Jr., age 67, of North Las Vegas, NV, passed away on Monday, September 28, 2020, after a brief but very difficult battle with lung cancer. Jack was born on May 15, 1953 in Birmingham, AL. He was the son of Norman and Nellie Sue (Chandler) Parker, and is preceded in death by them, his brother-in-law, Ro Thomas, and his nephew Chris Sawyer. Jack enjoyed woodworking, grilling, technology, and helping anyone with anything, as he was a true "Jack" of all trades. He worked for many years in the telephone industry in various roles, eventually retiring in 2016 as a Senior Engineer with Centurylink. Jack met his wife, Donna, 36 years ago during his time as a cable lineman and her time as a McDonald's store manager. As she moved from one McDonald's location to another, Jack always seemed to find her, as his job would also transfer him to the same locations in different parts of the county. They kept bumping into each other until the day they decided to make it stick, and Jack asked Donna out. Their love grew and they got married on March 23, 1986. Jack is survived by his wife, Donna; four children: Jack "Jay" Parker III (Sara), Daniel Parker (Caitlin), Jeffrey Parker (Samantha), Jennifer Parker; and two grandchildren: Lucy and Tanner, with another grandchild on the way. He is also survived by three siblings, Renee Thomas, Eddie Parker (Susie), Tinka Bentley (David); multiple nephews and nieces; and two grandnieces. Jack was immensely loved by his family, and made an impact as a kind, generous, helpful, and knowledgeable husband, Dad, Pop-pop, friend, and coworker. He will be greatly missed by many. At Jack's request, no services are planned, however, his family requests that any monetary condolences be donated to the Lung Cancer Research Foundation at www.donate.lungcancerresearchfoundation.org.
