Obituary of James William Thead, Sr.

It is with tremendous sadness that the family of James William Thead Sr. announces his peaceful passing on September 14th, 2020 at the age of 72 years. Known to many as "Jim," our beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Son, Brother, Uncle & Friend will be missed beyond measure. Jim was born to Mother, Maudie Wilson and Father, William Mack Thead at Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego on March 26, 1948. He lived a happy and fruitful life between San Diego, California and Las Vegas, Nevada. He proudly served 4 years in the U.S. Coast Guard and retired from New York, New York Hotel in Las Vegas after 18 years working as a professional painter. He will forever be in the hearts and memories of his wife Nancy, sister MaryAnn Quist, children, Amiee-Lyn West (Darren), Tina Rosenberg (Mike), Cindy Absher, Debbie Beckwith, James William Thead Jr. (Erin), 23 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and life-long friends, Dale and Shelly Hopkins. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Maudie, brothers, Charles Roy Kalak and Russell Kalak and sister Etta Mae Oshell. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in James William Thead Sr.'s name to his two favorite charities: Wounded Warrior Project and St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. The family wishes to send a special Thank You to the wonderful staff at Spring Valley Hospital Medical Center, UMC of Southern Nevada & Horizon Long Term Care for their care and compassion.
