Obituary of Karl Joseph Beeman

Karl Joseph Beeman was born on July 11th, 1957 in Conneaut, Ohio to parents Howard and Joyce Beeman. He was the oldest of five siblings. He was a junior volunteer and volunteer firefighter in Kingsville, Ohio, loved working on the family dairy farm, and attended Conneaut High School where he began dating Benita in his junior year. He graduated in 1975 and in August of 1976 he married his high school sweetheart, Benita. In November of 1976, Karl began what would become a twenty-three-year career as a fire protection specialist between active duty Air Force, the Air Force Reserves, and the Air National Guard, and in November 1977, Karl, Jr was born. During his time at F.E. Warren AFB, he also served as a full-time professional fire fighter for the City of Cheyenne, Wyoming and earned his Associates Degree in Fire Science from Laramie County Community College. He retired from the Air Force honorably in January of 1998 as a TSgt. and served previously as an Assistant Fire Chief while at Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque, New Mexico. While with the US Air Force Fire & Emergency Services, he worked in operations, communications, training, fire prevention, and as a health & safety officer. In addition, Karl worked for manufacturing and distribution as a technical specialist in protective ensembles for fire & emergency services and, served on three NFPA technical committees on protective ensembles for firefighting applications. Karl also gave keynote addresses and lectures about fire fighter safety and trained fire fighters in PPE care and maintenance and health and safety all over the world. He also served as a safety manager for a large casino and hotel on the Strip in Las Vegas, Nevada. Karl obtained his bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health from Columbia Southern University and worked as an OSHA Authorized Trainer and an adjunct professor at Chabot Las Positas Community College’s OSHA Training Institute. He obtained multiple OSHA training certifications as well as becoming a nationally Certified Safety Health Manager, a nationally Certified Safety Manager Practitioner, a Pro-Board Certified Health and Safety Officer, Pro-Board Certified Fire Inspector 1 & 2, and Pro-Board Certified Fire Instructor 1. He was an active member of the American Society of Safety Engineers, the Institute for Safety & Health Management, and the Fire Department Safety Officers Association. In February of 2016, Karl was baptized in the Greek Orthodox faith and took the baptismal name of Constantine after St. Constantine the Great.

In his spare time, Karl enjoyed sky diving and co-owned a skydiving center in New Mexico with Benita, and they previously owned a beauty shop in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Karl and Benita also opened what would become one of the first Independent Service Providers in 2002 dedicated to cleaning and repairing fire fighter turnouts. He enjoyed target shooting, BBQing, teaching, attending Church activities and most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially when he got to sing Happy Birthday.

After a life well-lived and a life well-loved, his final resting place will be at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Karl feel asleep in the Lord on October 14th, 2020. May his memory be eternal. He is preceded in death by his parents, Howard, and Joyce. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife Benita Beeman(Las Vegas, NV), his son Karl J. Beeman Jr. and daughter in law Ivana Beeman of Las Vegas, NV, Brothers; Howard(Kandi) Beeman of Austinburg, OH, David J.(Lynda) Beeman and Kevin M. Beeman of Las Vegas, NV, Sister; Theresa(Scott) Hass of Conneaut, OH and host of nieces and nephews. In Lieu of Flowers, the Beeman family ask that you donate to support Karl’s cancer fight. Mr. Karl Beeman’s visitation will be held October 26th,2020 at 10:30am, funeral services to follow at 11:00am at St. John The Baptist Greek Orthodox Church. A Graveside ceremony will be at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery on October 27th,2020 at 10:40am.
