Obituary of Bernard "Pete" Lawrence Lavoott

Bernard "Pete" Lavoott, 91, of Las Vegas, passed away May 24, 2013. Pete was born 3-26-1922 in Bangor, ME, as the youngest of 8 children to Samuel and Anne Lavoott. He served in WWII and the Korean Conflict as a 1st Lieutenant in the US Army Air Corp/USAF. He was a navigator/bombardier, completing 31 missions safely over Germany on a B24 Liberator Bomber and earning the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal with 4 Clusters. Pete was a technical school graduate and a member of the Jewish War Veterans. Pete was a man of many crafts, versed on statistics and computer utilization. His favorite baseball team was the old Boston Braves. He is survived by 14 nephews and nieces and many great nephews and nieces. He is predeceased by his siblings Max Louis Lavoott, Paulina Shindler, Rose Lavoott, Lena Ashmon, Sarah Bornstein, Joan Bluestone, and Emily Winkeller. A funeral service will be held on Wed. May 29, 2013 at 1:30 PM at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside CA. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity.
