Obituary of Lynne Caplan Barnes

Lynne Caplan Barnes, 63, and former Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota resident, spent the last 7 years living in Las Vegas. Lynne passed away peacefully surrounded by and in the arms of her beloved children and family on July 10th, 2013 after cardiac arrest on July 7th. She was born on April 29th, 1950 to Elyse (Rosenberg) Caplan and the late Sidney Caplan in Baltimore, Maryland. Lynne was a passionate animal lover and animal rights activist, who spent many of her childhood years riding horses and working in barns. She was a global traveler, backpacking across Europe and many other countries in her early twenties. Lynne graduated from University of Maryland, College Park, with a Bachelor's degree in Clinical Psychology and Criminology. She also received her Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from Loyola College, also in Maryland. Soon thereafter, she began a prestigious career in social work. Most recently and for the remainder of her life, she was well-known as an accomplished and highly successful residential real estate agent, as well as a time-share consultant. She was respected and renowned in both industries, and is held in esteem by all of her colleagues. Lynne's love for her children and all animals is an essential part of her legacy. After meeting her husband and father of her three children Geoffrey Barnes in her years as a social worker and psychologist, she devoted her life to unconditional love and support to her children. Lynne was a huge listener and lover of all music, especially Motown, R&B, Soul. She was also in constant attendance at live performances and shows of all kinds- especially those of her youngest daughter, Melissa, dancing. Lynne also had an exquisite palate and taste for fine dining, along with being an outstanding cook- which all supported her infatuation with good food! It is a well-known fact to all that were blessed to know her that she was a woman of class, intellect, stature, compassion, and glamour! Her taste included anything with sparkles and glitter! Lynne also possessed an unmatched sense of humor and timing, using her talents for sarcasm and witty remarks to bring smiles and laughter to all those around her. Lynne is survived by her three children; Allison (Barnes) Goin, still residing in Minneapolis, Minnesota; Matthew Evan Barnes and his wife Krista, also Las Vegas locals; Melissa Beth Barnes, who lives part time in both Los Angeles and Las Vegas; her grandson Mason Evan Barnes; and her brother Robert Caplan of Atlanta, Georgia. She is also survived by her cherished cats Mazel and Maggie, and her dog Matzoh. She will be dearly missed by many wonderful, incredible friends, who loved and supported her all throughout her fabulous life. Lynne's funeral service will be held at 2pm on Friday, July 12th, 2013 at Temple Sinai, 9001 Hillpointe Road, in Las Vegas, Nevada. .
