Memories of my Mom abounds. I always remember her love of life, her abundance of energy and her infectious laughter. She was always positive to life's challenges but also looked forward to new challenges in life. She had many passions and dancing was just one of them. She would volunteer to teach traditional Filipino dances for those interested, both young and old, and occasionally would organize and put up a show for her family, friends and guests so she could proudly share and display her love of the Filipino culture. Swimming and just being around water was another one of her passions. Her love of water, whether doing laps in the pool or wading along the river or just walking along the sandy beaches of the ocean, gave her a sense of peace and tranquility. But, it was her love of writing that she was most passionate about. Writing spiritually enriched her mind body and soul. It released her freedom to eloquently express her inner and most beautiful and deepest thoughts. Her writings gave us a treasure trove of information about her remarkable life, a life you only read about in fairytales. Her story and her legacy will assuredly continue to live in her families heart forever.
Her positive aura, grace, beauty, a wonderful sense of humor and of course that famous laughter made her the center of attention in many occasions but it was always God and family that was front and center in her world. She lived life fully and did so with no regrets. She inspired many but she inspired me the most. She passed along her knowledge and wisdom to her kids, grandkids and to others by way of her own life's experiences. She was unique, captivating and definitely one of a kind. She is my idol, my best friend and my world.
Jokingly, we would always say to her that she was spoiled. Her response as always and appropriately enough was,
" I deserve It " Yes Mom, you deserve everything in life and so much more...
Until we meet again somewhere over the rainbow, May you Rest In Peace. Mom, "I love you until the end of time"
Your Loving Son, EL or as you normally call me, EL "Toot" I can hear you laughing now...

Maria will be forever remembered and loved by all the families that she helped through her work with Special Olympics. Maria was a good friend to my sister, Molly Maloney. She taught Molly how to swim and they had lots of fun and laughter together.
Thinking of you with heartfelt sympathy.
